We're not even finished with the COVID 19 crisis and now the country is embroiled in the spectre of nightly riots, looting, and violence protesting police brutality. And after this comes the election which promises to be one of the most divisive in our nation's history.

How's a person supposed to work and be productive in times like these?

Is it even ethical to think about work when our nation is facing such huge life-and-death and culture-altering challenges?

My answer is that it's always appropriate to engage in productive activity to support your family. Creating a safe and secure environment for those we love should be our first priority in good times and bad. For those of us who are self-employed that means we can't neglect income-generating activities.

Taking care of our families, serving our communities, and using our skills to create a better world are the very things our country needs right now. We may not be able to impact the headlines on the evening news, but we can shine our light in our small corner of the world by continuing to do the right things every day. As Ghandi said, Be the change you want to see in the world.
